Jaimee Todd's Artist Statement:

I specialize in Inkscape photography, which involves photographing india ink and acrylic paint submerged in water. I create these works because I enjoy experimenting with the interplay between water and pigment and I am intrigued by the mysterious abstract forms that result from their interaction.

With my Inkscape portraiture, I use graphic design to combine my Inkscapes with people who I have photographed or with pre-existing images from the public domain. The subjects of my portraits range from everyday people to historical figures with particular emphasis placed on Black culture. Each Inkscape is carefully curated to reflect the essence of the person's personality and to enhance the mood of each portrait. As a result, the subject transcends the ordinary and enters the realm of the magical.
